New Mutoh XpertJet 1682UR with sustainable inks launched at drupa

Mutoh has debuted the new XpertJet 1682UR at drupa. It is MUTOH’s first roll-to-roll UV LED printer based on the award-winning XpertJet printer platform. This dual-headed 64-inch (162 cm) wide printer uses MUTOH’s environmentally friendly SVHC1 free US61 series inks in C, M, Y, K, White and Varnish 800 ml ink packs.

The XPJ-1682UR, featuring two 8-channel monoblock 1440 nozzle print heads in a staggered setup and two 4-inch (101.6 mm) UV LED lamps, achieves print resolutions up to 1440 x 1440 dpi. Unlike other UV LED printers, it can produce five-layer graphics without media pullback, ensuring impeccable print results.

The machine offers enhanced user comfort with multiple automated calibrations, including bi-directional alignment, media feed adjustment, remaining media tracking, and a nozzle area select feature that detects and compensates for missing nozzles. These features will increase efficiency and reduce waste.

The UV LED US61 inks are sustainable and meet the current and anticipated EU chemical-use regulations. They are free from SVHC1 and CMR category substances and safe for operators. They are compatible with a wide variety of substrates. The inks provide excellent adhesion, scratch resistance and flexibility, with up to 200 % elongation.
