Epson launches new SureColor S7160 eco-solvent printer

Epson has unveiled its SureColor S7160 eco-solvent printer, the latest addition to its next generation of large-format signage printers. Building upon the success of the SC-S40600, which has achieved over 11,000 units in global sales, the SC-S7160 is designed to deliver outstanding image quality, productivity, ease of use, and reliability at a minimal cost.

The S7160 will make its Australian debut on the Epson stand at PacPrint 2025 from 20 to 23 May 2025 at the Sydney Showgrounds.

The printer is a 4-colour printer and incorporates advanced technology that improves both user experience and print quality. These include Epson’s advanced 1.33-inch-wide PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead, which facilitates faster printing and wider print width in a single pass, increasing the number of nozzles from 360 to 400.

The SureColor S7160 utilises a larger 4-colour UltraChrome GS3 800 ml ink pouch system, enabling vibrant and accurate prints on a variety of media types, including vinyl, canvas, film, wallpaper, and other roll media up to 1,626 mm wide.

The transition from 700 ml cartridges to 800 ml ink bags reduces the frequency of ink replacement while being 84% lighter and generating 91% less waste per bag, which the company says aligns with its sustainability goals.

The printer has an advanced auto tension control system and a reinforced media feed roller for high-precision media feeding. Built on a market-proven, robust chassis with an accurate media feed system, it also incorporates an air circulation system that removes ink mist and captures it in filters.

A printhead guard helps prevent media crashes, while a new automatic head cleaning system ensures consistent performance.

The S7160 also has several other key functions, including a carriage temperature sensor that quickly detects temperature differences, allowing for accurate temperature compensation to minimise colour variations. This feature maintains uniformity between the beginning and end of longer print jobs, compensating for changes in ink temperature and nozzle surfaces caused by the platen heater.

Its 4.3-inch user-oriented interface and touchpad allow users to manage ink levels and other functions easily. At the same time, its LED lighting feature improves visibility during printing operations, allowing users to monitor the printer's status easily.

The SureColor S7160 integrates with Epson’s advanced management tools, including Epson Edge Print Pro RIP software and Epson Cloud Solution PORT. These tools provide comprehensive reporting, tracking, and cost analysis to help businesses streamline operations.

The SureColor S7160 Eco-solvent printer will ve available in Australia and New Zealand in mid-2025.
