Friday, April 11, 2025 Roland DG launches UV Flatbed with Faster Direct-to-Object Decoration Roland DG has announced the release of the VersaOBJECT LO-640/300 series on-demand printing solution. This solution enables easy, high-precision direct printing on three-dimensional objects of almost any material, which is generally done by pad or screen printing. The LO series can print detailed graphics on various substrates, including plastic, leather, wood, cloth, etc. The LO-640 offers a large printable area of 1,520 mm (W) x 2,450 mm (D), while the LO-300 is 656 mm (W) x 1,450 mm (D). Both models can accommodate objects up to 242 mm in height and 100 kg/sqm in weight. A key feature of the new LO series is its excellent productivity. In CMYK + White simultaneous printing, the LO-640 achieves a printing speed of 5.0 sqm/h, approximately three times faster than the previous models, while the LO-300 achieves a printing speed of 3.4 sqm/h, approximately 2.6 times faster than the previous model. “This is truly an ideal device for customers who want to produce high-quality customised decorations with large production volumes. The combination of two high-precision print heads and high-power UV-LED lamps allows for beautiful, high-definition printing of small characters, fine textures, and gradations, even at high output speeds,” says Ryugo Nimura, President Roland DG Global Sales and Marketing Division LO series printers support EUV5 inks in CMYKOrRe plus Clear, White, and Primer. High-opacity White ink is often used as a base coat when printing on transparent film or dark objects. In contrast, Orange (Or) and Red (Re) inks enable accurate colour reproduction of brand colours and unparalleled rich, vivid colour expressions. Clear ink produces unique finishing effects such as gloss or matte textures and simulated embossing. Primer ink enables printing on previously difficult materials, such as glass and metal, making it ideal for personalising a wide variety of consumer products, customising industrial products and parts, interior decoration, sign graphics, POS displays, packaging, and other high-mix, low-volume production. The printers also come standard with the latest RIP software, VersaWorks 7, which has greatly enhanced processing capacity and is compatible with macOS and Windows. In addition, LO series printers are compatible with Roland DG Connect, a powerful, comprehensive cloud platform providing information such as operating status and profit calculations to help users streamline their workflow and grow their businesses. Also included is PrintAutoMate, which supports high-mix, low-volume printing to realise more efficient and accurate personalisation services. “With the diversification and individualisation of consumer needs, there is a growing demand for timely and flexible responses tailored to each customer’s individual requirements,” Nimura adds. “The LO series is a powerful solution to support customers who are looking to grow their customisation business by enabling shorter delivery times, reduced costs, and higher profitability. We will continue to enhance the possibilities of on-demand decoration through the expansion of the VersaOBJECT lineup to contribute to our customers’ creativity and value.” Previous Article FESPA Global Print Expo 2025 full feature program If you have a news story, or story about an interesting project or installation please contact [email protected] Sign up to Image Magazine Newsletter.
