Made in Portugal by Digidelta, BIOND (be-yond) is a next generation film made from sustainable biomass (bio-based, aka plants). BIOND products have been developed with up to 97% biomass, contributing to the reduction of the global carbon footprint.

Debuting at FESPA in Berlin, BIOND is a world first innovative range of sustainable films. As BIOND was developed with biomass materials, CO2 is absorbed during the growth of the plant and then carbon stored in the produced film. In this next generation film, BIOND offers a significantly reduced carbon footprint as opposed to the widely used PVC-Free and PVC Self-Adhesive Vinyls (SAV). In contrast to the carbon-heavy production of traditional PVC films and the dangers of chlorine leaching into the environment on disposal, BIOND films are biodegradable, or if sent to landfill will result in carbon capture.

BIOND films are 100% EU certified biodegradable and can decompose in less than 90 days under the right conditions. BIOND films eliminate the emissions of volatile organic compounds, making them safer and more environmentally friendly, and also offer the same usability benefits of traditional SAV such as conformability, without compromising quality. With no plasticisers used, BIOND films also have the benefit of not shrinking or changing shape offering advantages that even conventional SAVs cannot.

"The launch of the BIOND brand reflects our vision of transforming the future of digital printing globally with truly sustainable and innovative solutions. We know that sustainability is not just a choice, but an imperative necessity for the global market. With the BIOND range, we believe we can redefine the standards of quality and environmental responsibility, promoting an alternative that combines efficiency and respect for the planet. The new BIOND brand brings unprecedented innovation to the market, offering a sustainable range of films that stand out globally in the digital printing and visual communication sector," says Armando Mota, CEO of Digidelta.

BIOND films are the response to the growing demands for more sustainable and high-performance solutions in the digital printing sector. This includes a wide range of applications, with and without adhesive for visual communication, interior decoration, advertising, labelling, and packaging, providing a perfect balance between technical performance and environmental responsibility. With comprehensive compatibility with UV LED digital printing technologies, UV Gel, Latex, solvent and Eco-Solvent, as well as flexographic and offset mechanical printing, BIOND easily adapts to the most demanding market needs.

Partnership with Coritex in Oceania

As part of the global launch of BIOND, Digidelta has announced an agency agreement with Coritex to supply BIOND across Oceania.

Mota commented, “It was an easy decision to partner with Coritex. Their philosophy and belief in making such positive change and their approach to being trusted partners of their clients resonated strongly with our ethos at Digidelta.”

Speaking with Image Magazine, Daniel Watts, Managing Director of Coritex commented, “What is quite remarkable about BIOND films is their performance. Functional properties measurable to a CAST SAV, with a much more approachable price point, similar to a promotional SAV, BIOND will gain acceptance very quickly, of course with the incredible benefit of being bio based.” Watts added, “It was clear from the first conversation with Digidelta that our philosophies align, so we are thrilled to be partnering with Digidelta in order to bring BIOND to Oceania.”

Coritex, while traditionally focussed on polyester fabrics has been instrumental in driving sustainable practices, including recycling programs and waste reduction efforts with clients.
