Monday, October 20, 2025 Epson new SureColor Printers Win 2025 Good Design Awards Epson’s latest SureColor large format printers — the SC-F9550/SC-F9550H dye-sublimation models and the SC-S9150 signage printer — have been recognised with a 2025 Good Design Award for their user-centric approach and workplace wellness focus. These industrial models are 300 mm lower in height than their predecessors, improving workspace visibility and reducing the sense of bulk typically associated with production equipment. The flatter top surface allows operators to inspect printed materials, while ergonomic enhancements, including a lifter for heavy media rolls and a large maintenance cover, minimise physical strain and simplify daily operation. According to the judging panel, Epson’s redesign “breaks away from the traditional large, heavy, and oppressive form of commercial printers” by prioritising comfort, accessibility, and harmony within the working environment. The reduced height helps lessen posture strain, while the quiet operation, improved lighting, and intuitive control panel layout contribute to reduced fatigue and a calmer workspace. By blending productivity with operator wellbeing, Epson’s new SureColor range presents “a new image of business equipment that balances high output with human-centred design.” The commercial SurePress L-5034 inkjet label press was commended for combining high-quality 1200 × 1200 dpi output with reduced maintenance. Using Epson’s own water-based pigment inks and a new biomass-based reaction liquid, the press achieves speed and quality comparable to mid-speed analogue machines, while minimising substrate waste. Additional Epson products recognised across multiple categories. The PaperLab Q-5000 and Q-40 dry-process office papermaking systems were selected among the Good Design Best 100 for their environmental contribution and reduced water usage. These models are around 50% smaller than their predecessors. They feature a separate paper-source processor that securely recycles used paper on-site, reinforcing Epson’s commitment to circular design and resource efficiency. Also named to the Good Design Best 100, Epson’s EF-72, EF-71, EF-52 and EF-51 home projectors feature Google TV integration, compact form factors, and Sound by Bose speakers. The EcoTank EW-M678FT and EW-M638T printers received recognition for modular, space-saving designs that complement home and small-office environments. Designed for durability and sustainability, they feature a folding mechanism that allows the unit to become completely flat when unused. Epson’s design excellence wins included the Orient RN-WK0002E and RN-WK0003G solar-powered wristwatches. Epson says these products highlight its continued focus on sustainable design, human-centred innovation, and visual performance across professional and consumer markets.
