ORAFOL Group has completed its 100% acquisition of Belgian developer and manufacturer of solar protection films, Group M.A.M., ahead of schedule, with its original investment in the company in October 2024 targeting full integration by 2029.

Dr. Holger Loclair, Chairman & CEO of ORAFOL, explains: “We saw that the cooperation with Group M.A.M. was developing in a direction that allows us to take this next step earlier than planned. The technology is excellent. Our expectations have been met and, according to independent research institutes, even exceeded in terms of effectiveness. On this basis, bringing forward the 100% acquisition makes sense and will accelerate our growth trajectory.”

With the accelerated acquisition, ORAFOL is specifically strengthening its new Functional Films business unit. The portfolio is being further expanded, particularly in the segment of spectrally selective and reflective solar protection films. These solutions are gaining global importance due to increasing demands for energy efficiency, heat protection, and climate protection. Through the full integration of Group M.A.M.’s technologies, ORAFOL underlines its ambition to be among the leading providers of premium solutions in this market.

Luc Michiels, CEO of Group M.A.M, adds: “The collaboration with ORAFOL elevates our technology to the next industrial scale-up level. With this step, we are addressing a strongly growing global market with technologically leading products and personal service worldwide. From the beginning, we shared the ambition to make our technology available to a much broader international market. Becoming part of ORAFOL gives us the industrial strength, global reach and long-term vision to accelerate that ambition while continuing to innovate for our customers.”

Group M.A.M. develops and manufactures a range of innovative, high-end window films, that the company claims ‘outperform other products on the market’. Whether applied to architectural glass or automative, the company claims its window films ‘help to save energy, reduce carbon footprint and enhance comfort’.

Through a design process called sputtering, Group M.A.M. implements precious metals into thin, clear polyester film which ‘opens new dimensions regarding spectral selectivity, with superior light transmission, heat reflection and absorption’. Glazing films offer an optimal performance upgrade to any structure or vehicle, with a unique property mix of improved transparency, sun protection and thermal insulation.
