Published on: Monday, October 4, 2021 Winners Announced! ASGA & FESPA HP Awards for Excellence At a gala dinner held on Friday night, 1 October 2021, the ASGA & FESPA HP 2021 Awards for Excellence were announced. Those who were unable to travel to Brisbane for the ceremony joined in the fun via a live Zoom hook-up, and not to be outdone, they received a gourmet platter and a bottle of wine delivered to their door. Nigel Davies, President of FESPA Australia, said, "After all the postponements and changes over the last 18 months, it truly was a celebration of excellence in the sign, display and graphics industry.” MC Steven Bradbury leaped into first position as MC for the night. His move from speed skater to MC was just the ticket. "If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is to remind us of the need to be flexible, innovative and responsive, and we have all demonstrated these values tonight," said Bradbury. ASGA President Julie Rochester said, "The last 18 months have thrown up immense challenges for the industry, but, resourceful as ever, our sector has responded creatively and with optimism. We've learned how to replace and to complement the traditional face-to-face experience by including hybrid and virtual alternatives." FESPA President Davies went on to say, "I would like to acknowledge the effort made by anyone who contributed a submission for consideration, to congratulate those who became worthy finalists, and to celebrate those deemed to ultimately be category winners," he added. Our winners deserve recognition for their excellence, along with the sponsors for their continued support. The winners have shown an amazing amount of endurance during challenging times, and I truly believe that each year the quality of submissions get better and better.” "I'd like to personally thank all the sponsors of the Awards, without the support of HP, 3M, Amari Visual Solutions, Avery Dennison, Epson, Euro Poles, Graphic Art Mart, Visual Connections, Ball & Doggett, Orafol, SMIB and Trotec this night may not have been possible. I'd particularly like to thank those that have stuck with us through postponements and changes." Julie Rochester agreed, "The feedback we have received throughout this journey has been just wonderful. I'd also like to thank everyone who participated and showed support for each other. It makes me proud to be part of this amazing community." The 2021 People's Choice Award gained the highest number of 'likes' recorded across all categories. What's That Guvnor? by Liberty Signs (Full Vehicle Wraps) was the stand-out winner, with more than half the total votes. This was the second People's Choice Award for Liberty Signs, following their win in 2018. The full details of the AGSA and FESPA 2022 Awards will be available soon.
