Published on: Wednesday, October 2, 2024 Fun in the Sun at ASGA Victorian Golf Day The Victorian ASGA Golf Day took place under sunny Melbourne skies at the Sandhurst Golf Club. Industry identities turned out in force for a day of fun competition, hospitality, and networking. Sunscreen was the order of the day this year, in stark contrast to the thermals and raincoats of last year, demonstrating what a versatile and hardy crew the Victorian industry is made of. Teams teed off early for 18 holes of Ambrose-style competition, with plenty of opportunity to win prizes on the course. This year, first place went to Team HEXIS, with a score of 52, followed very closely by Team Ball & Doggett with 53.3. Some wonderful prizes were also won on the novelty holes, with Brad Dunn taking home a new set of clubs for the longest drive, thanks to Sign Manufacturers Insurance Brokers (SMIB). Bounce LED and Lettertech ran their famous Member's Draw for a portable fridge and a lovely bottle of Scotch, and Darren from Sign Design won a full year's membership of the ASGA. Other winners in the “Nearest to the Pin” contest included John Papadopolous on the sixth, sponsored by BounceLED and Lettertech; Matt Newton on the eighth, sponsored by ORAFOL; Matt Ashman on the eleventh, sponsored by HVG, and Bradd Dunn on the sixteenth, sponsored by Ball and Doggett. Signarama sponsored the straight drive prize on the eighteenth, which went to Brad Ferreira, while Mike Freake won the same award on the third, sponsored by Visual Technologies. The hotly-contested Survival Ball was taken out by Team 13, HEXIS 2, sponsored by Shann DPM. This year, a new award was introduced for the Most Golf & Fun Had. Danni Wozniak from Vinyl Angel Graphics, who fully embraced the spirit of the day, won the inaugural prize. Damian Nielsen, Member & Events Manager for ASGA, said the competition and prizes were great – but the real winner was the industry. “It’s been an enjoyable day of camaraderie which, most importantly, provides the opportunity for competitors to make the connections and build on the existing relationships which are so important to a successful and enjoyable career,” he said. “We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who made this fantastic day of 'fun in the sun' possible - in particular, sponsors Spicers, HEXIS, SMIB, Bentleigh Sign Group, Ball & Doggett, Bounce LED, Lettertech, Brett Martin, HVG Graphics Media, ORAFOL, Shann, Signarama and Visual Technologies, all those who attended, and the team who worked so hard to make the day a success,” concluded Nielsen.
