Epson ranked in the Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2025 list

Epson has been ranked 6th in the Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2025 list announced by the global information services firm Clarivate Plc.

"We are deeply honoured to be selected as one of the Top 100 Global Innovators. In March 2021, we announced our strategic corporate vision, Epson 25 Renewed. Fiscal year 2025 marks the final year of this vision,” said Toshihiko Kobayashi, General Administrative Manager of the Intellectual Property Division.

“Epson always leveraged its proprietary technologies to solve societal issues. However, under Epson 25 Renewed, we have shifted our focus from doing everything in-house to emphasising co-creation with like-minded partners. These cooperative relationships enable us to swiftly create new value. I believe that intellectual property is a powerful tool for facilitating such co-creation,” continues Kobayashi.

“The reason is that possessing strong intellectual property rights is a ticket to building co-creation relationships with excellent, capable partner companies. Moving forward, we will continue to protect our proprietary technologies that solve societal issues through intellectual property rights and, using this ticket, work together with like-minded companies to address societal challenges."

Clarivate compares and analyses invention data from around the world, assesses the quality of patent ideas using indicators directly linked to innovativeness, and annually selects companies and organisations that are at the top of the global innovation ecosystem and continuously demonstrate outstanding innovation performance.

Evaluations use a twin-track approach. The first track focuses on identifying innovative companies and organisations based on the number of patent applications filed and patents held. An "international factor" is then calculated based on the rate and scale of international inventions.

The second track scores them on four factors-influence, success, geographic investment, and rarity-and a comparison against all other patent ideas is made.

Epson has been named to the Clarivate Top 100 Innovators List twelve times since its inception in 2012.
