Thursday, May 15, 2025 Spicers to launch new ACE screen board range at PacPrint Spicers has announced the launch of a range of new products under its long-standing Ace screen board brand, introducing a broader range of fibre-based display substrates aimed at providing alternatives to plastic-based materials in the retail and signage sectors. The new range will be launched at PacPrint, Sydney May 20 – 23. First introduced over twenty-five years ago, the Ace screen board range has been used widely in point-of-sale and retail signage. The new range extends the brand to include high-white rigid boards, brown craft boards, and an outdoor grade board with wet strength properties suitable for short-term external use, such as election posters or temporary event signage. Speaking to Image Magazine from the Oppboga stand at FESPA Berlin last week, Wayne Hood Visual Communications Portfolio Manager outlined the rationale behind the development. “This is a continuation of the well established Ace brand, incorporating additional fibre-based substrates. The aim is to offer materials that meet retail and display requirements without relying on PVC or polypropylene.” “The expanded offering includes ICB (Inverted Core Board) and HCB (Honeycomb Core Board) for use in structural applications such as display walls, standees, and brochure holders. Other items in the range include matte art poster papers (200–250 gsm), one-sided and two-sided bulk boards, and high-white display boards currently being trialled by several customers as a substitute for foam PVC.” Hood noted that the substrates are manufactured from managed forestry sources, are FSC certified and are intended to break down naturally at end of life, unlike plastic-based alternatives. Spicers has worked with local partners, including print service provider Frank Mezo from Mezographic to develop and test sample applications across the new range. The company expects fibre-based materials to form a significant part of its display product offering over the coming years, particularly in light of increasing regulatory and market pressure to reduce plastic usage.
