Caldera Announces New Streamlined RIP Portfolio

Caldera has announced a restructuring of its software portfolio.

Historically, Caldera offered distinct RIP solutions, including GrandRIP and VisualRIP, which were positioned as separate brands. At the October trade show, the company unveiled a new structure under which all RIP products are unified under a single identity, Caldera RIP.

Under the new structure, customers can choose between Perpetual Licensing, which provides software ownership with optional upgrades, or Subscription Licensing, offering ongoing access with version continuity.

Both licensing options are provided across three tiers:
•    Essentials – for smaller print businesses producing lower-volume applications such as stickers or banners
•    Pro – for mid-range production environments
•    Max – for high-volume production environments, including flatbed printing and advanced finishing

Under the new model, every tier includes the complete feature set. Customers no longer need to upgrade tiers to access capabilities such as colour management or profiling, with tier selection based on printer size and production requirements rather than software functionality.

Caldera says the revised structure is designed to support common print shop growth paths. A business may begin with a single aqueous printer producing decals or posters and later expand to flatbed systems and more advanced finishing, with the Caldera RIP software scaling alongside those changes without requiring a platform change.

From VisualRIP and GrandRIP to a Unified Caldera RIPCaldera’s portfolio reorganisation goes beyond naming, reflecting a move towards simplified product selection and clearer upgrade paths. The company says the new approach removes the need for customers to choose between multiple RIP variants or pay for unused capacity, instead allowing them to identify the appropriate tier based on their current equipment and future expansion plans.

Caldera General Manager Samin Sarkar said the restructure reflects a broader shift in the company’s approach. “We are heralding the next phase of professional print software: global in scale, local in service, and simplified in product structure.”

Caldera is headquartered in France and supported by teams across multiple regions. The company also highlighted its North American operations at Printing United.
“Thinking globally but acting locally is what we do well,” said Sebastien Hanssens, Caldera’s Vice President of Marketing. “Ensuring that customers have local support they recognise, trust, and can work with daily has become central to Caldera’s strategic philosophy. Our goal is to create success and clarity for customers in every region we serve.”

Caldera reported strong interest from existing customers, new users, and international partners during the event, as the company continues to focus on supporting digital print production across a range of market segments.
