Published on: Wednesday, March 5, 2025 Mimaki launches two new textile printers Mimaki has announced the release of the Tx330-1800 and Tx330-1800B direct textile inkjet printers for the textile and apparel market. The printers are capable of printing on a variety of materials with minimal wastewater. In contrast to conventional textile printing processes that require pre- and post-processing equipment, the Tx330 Series streamlines production into a more space-efficient solution—ideal for users with limited space. Both printers make their debut this March in Japan , with the Tx330-1800 later unveiled at FESPA in Berlin (6th-9th May 2025). In the apparel industry, diversification of materials and designs, shorter trend cycles and production processes, and more environmentally friendly textile printing methods are in demand. With approximately 20% of industrial wastewater estimated to come from dyeing textiles, there is a growing demand for digital on demand textile printing, and this market is expected to expand. The Tx330-1800 and Tx330-1800B are direct textile inkjet printers that can be used with dedicated textile pigment inks and dye sublimation inks, and with almost no water is used in the textile printing process. Compared to the other more complicated textile printing processes that require a large quantity of water for conventional dye inks, the Mimaki printers have a printing and baking (heat treatment) procedure that eliminates the need for water, and dyeing in the process. In addition, the company says its "330 Engine," a high-resolution, high-definition print head used in the flagship printers and the company’s proprietary imaging technology, will enable printers to create expressive on-demand textile prints with a high image quality. The Tx330-1800 is a hybrid model which can print on fabric and paper. The operator can easily switch the printing mechanism to suit a fabric or transfer paper print, enabling the short run production of fabric signs and interior fabrics. In addition, it can also print on wallpaper and poster paper, providing a total solution for printers to provide full interior design of stores or event booths. The Tx330-1800B uses a space-saving belt conveyor system to stably print on stretchy, thick, and thin fabrics commonly used for apparel. This system supports short-run and multi-variety apparel production in limited spaces such as design offices, schools, and fabric retail stores Textile pigment inks can be used for textile printing on a wide variety of natural, recycled, and synthetic fibres, while sublimation dye inks can be used to dye polyester fabrics. The printer can be configured with a “Hybrid Ink Set” to expand the applications of a single printer, and enabling printing companies to diversify their offerings.
