Kavalan to showcase PVC-free banner media at PRINTING United

Kavalan will bring its expanded range of PVC-free wide-format media to PRINTING United Expo, spotlighting its Eco Calculator, a tool designed to help the industry measure and report on print’s environmental impact.
The company says it will present its updated identity and core line of sustainable alternatives to PVC. The collection includes:
•    Sunlight – a lightweight coated banner for indoor and outdoor signage
•    Moonlight – a bright white option suited to lightboxes and backlit graphics
•    Butterfly – a double-sided block-out textile material
•    Spiderweb – a mesh banner substrate
•    Gecko – a coated wallcovering solution

Compatible with UV, Latex and UVgel print platforms, the range delivers durability, flame retardancy and tensile strength on par with conventional PVC products, while removing the environmental burden of vinyl.

The Eco Calculator is central to Kavalan’s sustainability message. First launched in 2022 and continuously updated, it is based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology and helps businesses quantify reductions in human health, ecological impact, and resource use when switching to Kavalan products. Metrics include Waste-to-Energy (WtE) data and CO₂-equivalent emissions from air travel. One UK print provider, for example, reported a 67% reduction in its environmental footprint after three years of using Kavalan substrates.

Nova Abbott, Head of Marketing, says the company’s focus is on transparency and accountability.  “It’s been a transformative year for Kavalan with the unveiling of our new brand identity, and we’re excited to bring this to the US for PRINTING United Expo. As the shift towards sustainable materials accelerates, it’s becoming increasingly important not only to choose greener options but also to report on and evaluate their true environmental impact. Our Eco Calculator enables printers to do exactly that, and our focus at the show will be to educate visitors on how this tool supports a more transparent and sustainable future for print. We welcome all visitors to our booth to explore this vital step towards measurable sustainability.”
