Published on: Thursday, January 30, 2025 KIWO launches new screen-printable protective films “We are delighted to introduce the groundbreaking KIWOMASK Print n' Peel series. This innovative line of screen-printable protective films represents a significant advancement. These products provide extended storage life for printed substrates and effortless, residue-free removal. Still, they also deliver enhanced efficiency and cost savings compared to other printable and conventional protective films on the market. Companies seeking to safeguard the surfaces of their high-quality components will find immense value in adopting the new KIWOMASK Print n' Peel products,” says Michael Gross, Business Development Manager Kissel + Wolf GmbH. The new screen-printable protective films offer many advantages, including easy application using screen printing and easy removal. Both the new KIWOMASK Print n' Peel Blue and KIWOMASK Print n' Peel Clear are based on innovative, water-based polymers with outstanding properties. Development was focused on the best possible printability, compatibility with different materials, and easy residue-free removal. These new products do not age or become brittle, thanks to higher UV and temperature stability. The protective film remains durable even when exposed to temperatures of up to 90°C (194°F) for extended periods and frequent UV drying cycles, all without compromising quality. KIWOMASK Print n' Peel Blue and Clear can be effortlessly removed from the substrate surface, even after thermoforming processes. Also, peel-off properties remain unchanged, even after twelve months of storage. The products are highly tear-resistant. When the protective film is removed, the special formulation prevents tearing, eliminating any dot-shaped residue on the print edge. KIWOMASK Print n' Peel Blue and Clear are compatible with almost all common substrates, such as polycarbonate, polyester, polyamide, or PMMA, and are also suitable for primer or hard coat coatings. The products are water-based and ideal for industrial applications where mechanical stress demands excellent material properties. In addition to the water-based KIWOMASK Print n' Peel Blue and Clear products, KIWO also offers UV-curing versions: KIWOMASK UV 161/1 Red and Print n' Peel UV and (c) KIWOMASK UV 164. These solvent-free protective films are UV-curable and especially suitable for applications requiring short processing times. • KIWOMASK UV 161/1 Red is suitable for the protection of non-pretreated polycarbonate. • KIWOMASK Print n' Peel UV protects non-pretreated PMMA and polyester or hard-coated, painted or powder-coated surfaces. • KIWOMASK UV 164 was developed as a screen-printable mask for partial sandblasting work on glass or metal. Due to its very high temperature resistance (approx. 210°C (410°F) for 15 minutes), it is also suitable for window masking in the production of hollow glass, which is partially coated with an etch-imitation lacquer.
